I came to Coimbatore for a two-day client visit and ended up extending my stay over the weekend. Shiva Grand had everything I needed without any of the noise that usually comes with city-centre hotels.
The room
The Deluxe AC room was quiet — properly quiet, despite the location near the railway station. Clean linens, a workspace big enough to spread out a laptop and notebook, and a shower with reliable hot water.
The neighbourhood
Walking distance to half a dozen Kongu Nadu restaurants, two filter coffee institutions, and a 15-minute auto ride to VOC Park for the morning walk. The Collectorate is right next door if you need any formal paperwork done.
Worth doing
Ask the front desk about Brookefields Mall in the evening and Marudhamalai for sunset. The staff know the city and give honest recommendations, not commission-driven ones.
